The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is a United Nations peacekeeping mission for the recently independent South Sudan, which became independent on 9 July 2011. UNMISS was established on 8 July 2011 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1996.

The UNMISS has published a job vacancy announcement on 12th December 2023 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Administrative Officer to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in Juba in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan in the Office of the Chief of Staff Field Support Office (UNMISS). Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Administrative Officer FS-6 reports to the Senior Liaison Officer P-5 in the Field Support Office.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

High school diploma required. Technical or vocational certificate in administrative services, finance, human resources, business administration, information management systems or personnel management is required.

Work Experience:

At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience within the United Nations system or the private sector in the field of administrative services, finance, accounting, human resources, audit, or in other related fields, of which three (3) years should have been at a supervisory level is required. The minimum years of experience is reduced to five years for candidates who possess a first level university degree.
Experience in international operations in a post-conflict environment is desirable.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
