The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UNICEF, is a United Nations entity charged with working for gender equality and the empowerment of women. UNICEF is charged with advocating for the rights of women and girls, and focusing on a number of issues, including violence against women and violence against LGBT people.

The UNICEF has published a job vacancy announcement on 02nd April 2024 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Emergency Specialist to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

UNICEF Job Vacancy 2024

Purpose: Under the guidance and supervision of the supervisor, establishes and implements the Sudan Crisis Response Plan in the Upper Nile State. Responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the emergency interventions to ensure the survival and well-being of children and mothers, and the affected communities in an emergency situation. Further provides coordination support to the Sudan Crisis Response and heads the Satellite Field Office, Renk, Upper Nile State.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines. Preferably a combination of management, administration, and relevant technical fields.

Work Experience:

Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration.
Developing country work experience (for IP) or field work experience (for NO).
Specialized training/experience in emergency response management highly desirable.

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
