But WFP also works to help prevent hunger in the future. We do this through programmes that use food as a means to build assets, spread knowledge and nurture stronger, more dynamic communities.

The WFP has published a job vacancy announcement on 12th February 2024 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Security Analyst to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

Collects, collates, validates, and analyzes information from a variety of sources and prepares background notes, updates and reports on prioritized security-related issues.
Prepares and updates States Security Profile of South Sudan, based on information from open and internal.
Conducts analysis mission to identified field locations.
Prepares the Daily Security Report and Security Quarterly. Provide security-related inputs for Security daily RMQ morning Update and Daily ED Operational Brief (DEDOB).
Compiles various timely and accurate security reports with a focus on developments that affect or may affect the safety and security of WFP staff/assets/operations.
Assists the Head of Security in dissemination of security-related information.
Provides inputs for topical analysis and other analytical reports/updates pertaining to the security situation in the country, as well as security developments that have cross-cutting implications in the region.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

Advanced University degree in Security Management, International Relations or Law Enforcement or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses. A diploma obtained from Military/Police Academy with qualifying relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the First University degree.

Experience:

Typically, one year or more of progressively responsible professional experience in security management (relevant military, policy or corporate) and/or security risk management, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development. Experience in managing support staff.

Knowledge & Skills:

Good theoretical understanding of security management concepts and principals with a knowledge of best practices, techniques and processes.
Ability to assimilate a range of information and make basic analyses to support the development of efficient solutions.
Good communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to different situations and individuals.
Ability to contribute to and/or deliver effective briefing and training, assessing participant needs.
Knowledge of common business principals and processes and the ability to quickly assimilate UN/WFP specific processes and systems.
