IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional afromontane forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

The IGCP has published a job vacancy announcement on February 23, 2024 for qualified Uganda’s to fill in the vacant post of Machine Operator to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines by carrying out pre-operation checks before the start of production from shift changeover, to control the production of defects online.
Inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications like changing worn-out Teflon.
Carry out pre-operation checks before the start of production from shift over, to control the production of defects online
Monitor and check that equipment capacity meets the production schedule and targets.
Set up and operate the production machine by established procedures and guidelines; Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery; adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
Document production and quality records as required by the standard operating procedures.
Conduct sealing integrity checks on finished products, check for proper best-before-date print on packs, and monitor weights by company policy and procedures.
Perform minor adjustments and routine maintenance as per the operational manual.
Maintain a clean workstation and equipment and sanitize according to the cleaning schedule and procedures.
