The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organisation that protects the rights of people affected by displacement. This includes refugees and internally displaced persons who are forced to flee their homes as a result of conflict, human rights violations and acute violence, as well as climate change and natural disasters.

The NRC has published a job vacancy announcement on 25 March 2024 for qualified Nigeria’s to fill in the vacant post of ICLA Coordinator to be based in Abuja, Nigeria.

Role and responsibilities:

The purpose of the ICLA Coordinator position is to ensure the effective implementation of the ICLA project portfolio at the area level. Under the supervision of the ICLA Project Manager, and with technical support and guidance from the ICLA Specialist, the ICLA Coordinator will

Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Line management of CC project field staff
Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures

Qualification & Experience:

Minimum Bachelor of a Law degree and must have been called to the Nigerian BAR (be able to practice as a lawyer in Nigeria) and be conversant with international humanitarian and Human Rights law or Political Science, International Relations, or Social Sciences.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within the field of expertise
Technical-specific knowledge from the humanitarian sector
Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts
