IGCP Uganda looking for “Maintenance Technician”.

IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional afromontane forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.
The IGCP has published a job vacancy announcement on March 19, 2024 for qualified Uganda’s to fill in the vacant post of Maintenance Technician to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Carryout daily and periodic checks for machinery and equipment.
- Carryout routine plumbing and welding works as required.
- Carryout preventive and corrective repairs to ensure longer equipment life cycle.
- Resolve breakdowns in time so as not to affect total production output or product quality.
- Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform the required services
- Maintain and update daily activity logs and provide relevant progress information
- Participate in modifications, installations and decommissioning of equipment.
- Testing of equipment after repair/installation/modification etc.
- Maintain 5S in respective areas of operation.
- Clean and safely store plant tools and hand equipment.
- Initiate notifications with the right specifications for equipment spares purchase.
