FHI 360 South Africa looking for “Project Coordinator”.

FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization based in North Carolina. FHI 360 operates in more than 70 countries and all U.S. states and territories. Established in 1971, the organization manages projects relating to family planning and reproductive health. In 1986 the organization began a worldwide response to HIV/AIDS.

The FHI 360 has published a job vacancy announcement on 27th February 2024 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of Project Coordinator to be based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Contribution to workplan development for the project
  • Coordination of pre-award assessment of the implementing partner and sub-award development for.
  • Coordination of workshops/conferences/trainings arranged in support of the Nursing Leadership initiative.
  • Coordinate the implementation of situational analysis activities in four selected provinces.
  • Coordination of engagement with the nursing officials at national, provincial and district department of health.
  • Coordinate needs assessments to determine training needs among nursing professionals.
  • Coordinate capacity development assessments to identify capacity development needs of the implementing partner.
  • Providing Technical Assistance to the implementing partner based on identified TA needs.
  • Documenting meeting outcomes and track action items
  • Coordinate the activities leading to the design of the Nursing Leadership Development programme.
  • Coordinate inputs from stakeholders and experts needed for the development of workshop material for training of nurse managers and educators on the leadership empowerment program.
  • Coordinate activities needed for the development of a manual for nursing leadership development.
  • Contributing to key program reporting deliverables, including, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required
  • Collaborating with other members of the project team to ensure that deliverables meet the needs of the scope of work.
  • Contributing to the overall technical and programmatic quality and outputs of the activity.
  • Contributing to progress check-ins on a fortnightly basis with AOR and POC for this activity.
  • Developing, in collaboration with Nursing office at national/provincial/district, guidelines, tools, policies, and procedures that inform Nursing Leadership Initiative support.
  • Coordinating the writing of program outputs and outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Monitors expenditures against budget and may have access to confidential project information (i.e., salary information)
  • Ensures completion of project while adhering to budget, scope, and schedule requirements.
  • Help to identify funding opportunities and participate with Business Development and Diversification (BDD) efforts, including capture work and development and/or review of proposal narratives and budgets.
  • Carrying out all other duties as may be designated by the supervisor.

Required Education, Experience/Skill and Competencies:

  • University Degree/Diploma in Nursing or Education or any Health-related Degree.
  • Public Health post-graduate training and qualification would be as added advantage.
  • 6+ years’ experience in the Non-Governmental Organization space including provision of capacity development support for local partners. Experience with PEPFAR funded organization’s will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in coordinating activities between an NGO and the Departments of Health.
  • Experience in project management of a donor funded program.
  • Experience with supporting programs enhancing the welfare of nurses will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in curriculum development and trainings.
  • Experience with conducting and documenting qualitative research.
  • Familiarity with the district and provincial Departments of Health, preferably experienced in stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good computer skills including word and excel.
  • A valid driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent public speaking abilities, strong written and verbal English skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Preferred
  • Ability to analyze data, or interest in learning to analyze data is important.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
  • Ability to respond with sensitivity to people of diverse cultures.
