The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN Women, is a United Nations entity charged with working for gender equality and the empowerment of women. UN Women is charged with advocating for the rights of women and girls, and focusing on a number of issues, including violence against women and violence against LGBT people.

Eligibility Criteria

Required education level:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Gender and Development, Statistics, or related area in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field is required.

Required experience:

  • 3 years of experience in Gender, Statistics and program management at the national or international level.
  • Technical experience in Gender Statistics is an added advantage.
  • Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors is an asset.
  • Experience working in the UN System is an asset.
  • Experience in leading/managing a team is an asset.
  • Experience with computerized financial/accounting systems or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS office applications, including MS Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural team of international and national personnel.
  • Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range or partners and organizations, and with personnel under various positions and levels.
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment and with tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Sound security awareness.
  • Knowledge of UN system is an advantage, or other relevant programmes. experience with Mine Action is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
  • Have interest in International Development, UN Women mandate, volunteerism-all as a mechanism for durable development.

Languages:

  • English, Level: Fluent, Required.
