UNAIDS South Africa looking for “Technical Officer”.

The mission of UNAIDS is to lead, strengthen and support an expanded response to HIV and AIDS that includes preventing transmission of HIV, providing care and support to those already living with the virus, reducing the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV and alleviating the impact of the epidemic. UNAIDS seeks to prevent the HIV/AIDS epidemic from becoming a severe pandemic.

The UNAIDS has published a job vacancy announcement on 20th February 2024 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of Technical Officer to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

Essential: Advanced university degree at Master´s level or equivalent in development studies, gender studies, social sciences, public health, political sciences, human rights, or another field related to the responsibilities. A relevant first university degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience will be considered equivalent for internal candidates.
Desirable: Further studies with a focus on gender and/or social inclusion.

Experience:

Essential: At least 5 years of professional experience in gender equality, including in intersectional gender analysis, gender transformative policies and programmes. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including governments, other United Nations organizations and key development partners, civil society and women-led networks and organizations, globally and regionally, and/or nationally.
Desirable: Experience in one or more of the following areas: gender equality in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), gender and HIV, Gender-based Violence (GBV), Gender and the right to Health, Gender and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Experience working with gender diversity issues, feminist network, key population networks and movements with a gender perspective.
