The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is a United Nations peacekeeping mission for the recently independent South Sudan, which became independent on 9 July 2011. UNMISS was established on 8 July 2011 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1996.

The UNMISS has published a job vacancy announcement on 19th May 2023 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Finance and Budget Assistant to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

UNMISS Job Vacancy 2023

Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, with duty station Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The incumbent will report directly to a Finance and Budget Officer in the Budget and Finance Section.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational certificate in accounting, finance, budget or related fields is a requirement.

Work Experience:

• At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience with the United Nations System or in the private sector at the national or international level in accounting, budgeting or financial management is required.
• Knowledge of UN financial rules and regulations is desirable.
• Hands-on experience on financial ERP systems (i.e Umoja) is desirable
• Knowledge of Business Planning and consolidation (BPC) platform or Results Based Budgeting (RBB) is desirable.

Languages:

• English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
