The FHI 360 has published a job vacancy announcement on December 20, 2023 for qualified Ethiopia’s to fill in the vacant post of Community Nutrition Zonal Coordinator to be based in Tigray, Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and participate to the yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly planning activities of the respective zone.
  • Support the HEWs on identifying, establishing/ strengthening, and training and mobilization of HDAs/WDAs/ WDAs on acute malnutrition active case findings, screening, referral, follow-up and home visit methods.
  • Make sure that health extension workers and health workers involve the HDA/HDG, religious leaders, health committees, and agriculture extension workers in community mobilization activities for increasing awareness and ownership of acute malnutrition services.
  • Contribute to the development of simple & clear messages for community mobilization and awareness raising.
  • Help HEWS develop monthly plans with the HDA/HDG and then hold monthly meetings to review plans and address concerns, maintain changes in behavior and share success stories.
  • In collaboration with RHB and FHI 360’s Crisis Response team, participate on conducting a rapid facility readiness assessment and agree on priority actions based on its findings.
  • Support timely requisition of essential nutrition equipment and items, in line with the approved list from the supplemental funding activities, like anthropometric materials, SC & OTP materials/supplies, guidelines, job aids, and relevant registers based on the assessment findings.
  • Contribute to the development of the ToRs for the LIPs and coordinate and support AMIYCN, CMAM & IYCF-E trainings for health care providers using recently updated national guidelines as per skill gaps identified during the facility readiness assessment.
  • Provide technical support through regular supportive supervision to Woreda health office, health facilities and communities.
  • Support in ensuring the availability of nutrition relevant job aids (counselling materials, registers, reporting forms and reference guides) in the health facilities.
  • In collaboration with LME manager, strengthen the capacity of Zonal, Woreda health office and community in nutrition and health information management system for decision making.
  • Help in ensuring that the selected health facilities in the zone of interest have a continuous and uninterrupted access to the various essential nutrition supplies.
  • Support on strengthening the referral and communication system among the HCs, HPs and Primary Hospitals.
  • Support HEWs and ensure quality implementation of all the Nutrition activities in the woredas (prevention and treatment activities).
  • Along with woredas nutrition focal persons, provide appropriate mentoring and on job training for health workers and HEWs in the target health facilities.
  • Support and Monitor health facilities to include nutrition-related drugs (IFA, Deworming, Vitamin A & others) request into the RRF timely.
  • Ensure that all donor compliance and FHI 360 rules and regulations are strictly followed during day-to-day program operations.
  • Collaborate with USAID partners and others working on nutrition program in same intervention areas.
  • Provide continuous technical support for local implementing partners under Community Nutrition Activity supplemental fund.
  • Be the focal person/support the focal person to implement gender-sensitive and specific activities related to nutrition at zonal, woreda, and kebele level.
  • Collect regular DHIS Key Indicators data from woreda or health facility.
  • Share weekly and monthly plans with the project manager timely.
  • Support and ensure that Nutrition agenda-focused review meetings are conducted regularly in Zonal, Woreda and Health facilities levels.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Master’s Degree / BSc Degree or its International Equivalent in Nutrition, Health Officer, Nursing and other Health related and having MSC in any public health field is an advantage, Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, the Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth or a Related Field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience Nutrition and health programs, ideally in nutrition, health or related technical areas.
  • Have trained on CMAM, Quality Improvement, AMIYCN, Catchment Mentorship, Enhanced Community conversation, Adolescent Nutrition, Data Management and Use and DHIS2 training in the last three years.
  • Experience working effectively with local NGO/and other USAID partners.

Language:

  • Excellent spoken and written English and local languages.
