IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional Afromontane Forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist the District Operations Officer in the preparation and submission of budgets, expenditures and financial statements on operations in the district e.g. for CDC meetings, community outreaches, monitoring trips etc. to the National Office.
  • To assist the District Operations Officer in logistical arrangements for operations in the district.
  • Support to coordinate the work of members who have taken up Guides Programmes in the district.
  • Support the District Operations Officer to ensure quality training including review/refresher training.
  • Support the District Operations Officer to cultivate appropriate stakeholder partnerships including school, community, traditional and local authority leadership.
  • Monitor Guide attendance and role delivery in schools and communities.
  • Support the District Operations Officer to provide continuous capacity building to Guides and design solutions to challenges faced as they discharge their duties in service to learners, schools, and communities.
  • Promote access to business finance and ensure good credit history for the Guides and their district.
  • Facilitate CDC and other stakeholder linkages to widen opportunities for young women in Guide roles.
  • Ensure data capturing and timeous reporting on the work of Guides in the district.
  • Support the District Operation Officer to maintain records for the operations in the district, these include correspondences within, to and from the district, reports and minutes of activities conducted within the district or involving residents of the district e.g. Letters from schools, beneficiaries, CDC minutes etc.
  • Support the District Operations Officer to capture of data for all the programmes carried in the district.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualification:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation, financial management and reporting processes is desirable.
  • Familiarity with data collection and reporting tools is an advantage.
