IOM South Sudan looking for “Project Officers”.

The International Organization for Migration is an intergovernmental organization that provides services and advice concerning migration to governments and migrants, including internally displaced persons, refugees, and migrant workers. In September 2016, IOM became a related organization of the United Nations.

The IOM has published a job vacancy announcement on 25th January 2024 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Project Officers to be based in Malakal, South Sudan.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Development, Public Health or related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in Camp Coordination and Camp Management, as well as Protection;
  • Experience in effective partner coordination within the humanitarian cluster system;
  • Experience in developing linkages between displacement and durable solutions;
  • Experience working in camp-like settings and working with displaced communities;
  • Experience in community engagement and AAP;
  • Experience in M&E and report writing;
  • Experience in consolidating information from multiple sources;
  • Experience with basic presentation software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel); and,
  • Experience with CCCM site planning and site development works is an advantage.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the displacement profile of the country;
  • Teamwork and innovative thinking;
  • Analytical skills, including data collection from various sources and in-depth analysis;
  • Knowledge of the activated coordination systems in South Sudan; and,
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant protection frameworks and protection mainstreaming;
  • Proven editing and drafting skills.

Languages:

  • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic, French, Spanish and/or local language is an advantage.
  • Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
