IGCP Uganda looking for “Corporate Social Responsibility Manager”.

IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional afromontane forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

The IGCP has published a job vacancy announcement on April 01, 2024 for qualified Uganda’s to fill in the vacant post of Corporate Social Responsibility Manager to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

IGCP Job Vacancy 2024

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with partner organizations to secure co-funding and grant opportunities for scaling up successful projects under the guidance of the MD and Chief Impacts Officer
  • Ensure NFC’s compliance with all applicable laws, standards, certifications, and principles related to community, stakeholder, and social areas, including support with auditing.
  • Ensure Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) and feedback in all stakeholder and community engagements using participatory approaches
  • Deputize the Executive Director of New Forests Foundation as delegated
  • Address business risks and apply proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Offer support and guidance to the MD regarding government relations and stakeholder engagement, particularly in promoting the company’s social business model and addressing forestry strategic and operation issues.
  • Manage, execute and timely reporting on approved community development projects in areas surrounding plantations, focusing on health, education, carbon, outgrowers, financial literacy livelihoods, promoting the Forest Landscape Approach and other innovative ideas.
  • Build agency of NFC forest adjacent communities as part of the NFC shared value approach
  • Capacity building and funding of Community Groups to promote the Forests for Prosperity and Outgrowers Programme and other innovative programmes
  • Be ESG champion and lead investor visits and due diligence missions with respect to social issues
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for the community program, overseeing expenditure and ensuring project effectiveness.
  • Implement a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system to assess project progress, impact, and social return on investment.
  • Provide regular reporting on activities to stakeholders and contribute to various reports and grant applications.
  • Ensure effective and cost effective service delivery to stakeholders through the NFF community clinics .
  • Manage CSR-related litigation and support MD in building strategic relations with government officials and institutions.
  • Provide support in dealing with operational issues
  • Ensure CSR integration into all company operations.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships with government officials, community leaders, and institutions operating in the area.
  • Support MD in establishing relationship with different Stakeholders for market visibility, opportunities and inclusive  business policy regime
  • Lead and develop the team, including recruitment, performance management, and development.
  • Oversee all community development projects in surrounding communities
  • Contribute to Uganda’s section of the annual group sustainability report.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Post graduate Diploma in related field (management, organizational development) is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable five years track record in project management, community development, government relations and social enterprise.
  • Experience in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Experience with social compliance frameworks and building agency
  • Exceptional budgeting, financial management and programme management skills.
  • Understanding of entire Microsoft office suite, including powerpoint, excel, word, access etc.
  • Very practical and effective in problem solving and crisis management.
  • Impressive relationship building and management skills from community members to national government officials.
  • Comprehensive report writing, interpersonal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
