The UNDP has published a job vacancy announcement on 15th April, 2024 for qualified Ethiopia’s to fill in the vacant post of Security Operations Center Technician to be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO), the SOC Technician will perform the following duties:
Provide technical specification and advice, receive, test, program and install radio communication and satellite equipment for all UN agencies and communication centers.
Conducts training to UNDSS and AFP staff in the proper use of communication equipment.
Timely installation and upgrading of HF, VHF mobile and base stations, repeaters, and satellite equipment for UN agencies.
Assessing, installation and commission of new Security Operation centers.
Repair radio communication equipment and accessories.
Prepare, manage, and maintain a comprehensive inventory of telecom equipment, keep records of issued and received items/assets.
Assists SOC Assistants in conducting periodic inspections and preventive maintenance for telecommunication installations of the UN Security Management System in Addis Ababa and field locations.
As necessary and directed, participate in upgrade of the existing Telecomm Equipment according to UN standard.
Assist in preparing, updating and/or facilitation call signs for UN Agencies/NGOs

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

High school diploma or bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study is required.
Specialized formal training on IT systems, business software (Microsoft Office) and web-based applications, ICDL certification, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is desirable.

Experience:

4 years (with High school diploma) or 1 year (With bachelor’s degree) of relevant working experience in IT and administration, communication equipment and radio maintenance is required.
Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO, is desirable.
