UNMISS Job Vacancy 2023

Org. Setting and Reporting: These positions are located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba. Juba is classified as an “E” hardship duty station and a non-family duty station. Under the overall management/direction of the Principal Security Advisor (PSA) and the Chief Security Officer (CSO), the Close Protection Officer at FS-5 level reports to the coordinator of the Close Protection Unit and/or the Team Leader.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job – Specific Qualification:

UNDSS Close Protection Officer Certification (CPOC) is required (and will be expected for future advancement in this field)
Completion of an international, national, or commercial close protection training is desirable
Experience in the practice of Training of Trainers (ToT) is desirable.

Work Experience:

A minimum of eight (08) years with a high school diploma or equivalent of progressively responsible experience in the military, police or security management is required
At least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in close protection with a local, national, private, or international security organization, including at least one (1) year at the international level in a conflict or a high-risk environment is required.
Experience and proficiency in the use of close protection weapons, communications, surveillance equipment, and vehicles is required.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
