The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is a United Nations peacekeeping mission for the recently independent South Sudan, which became independent on 9 July 2011. UNMISS was established on 8 July 2011 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1996.
The UNMISS has published a job vacancy announcement on 14th May 2024 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Information Management Officer to be based in Juba, South Sudan.
UNMISS Job Vacancy 2024
Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), duty station Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Information Management Officer reports to the Team leader of the Conflict related violations Unit, under the overall guidance and direction of the Director of the Human Rights Division (HRD).
Eligibility Criteria
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information management, information science, information systems, social science or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, database management, modern archives management, record keeping, library, information management or related area is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience in Human Rights related data analysis, collection and visualization systems, to include geographic information systems (GIS), within the UN common system is required.
- Experience using Power BI, SharePoint Online and Power Automate applications is required.
- Experience in building and deploying machine learning models for conflict analysis is desirable.
- Experience working in an international organization or non-governmental organization in a conflict or post-conflict setting in Africa is desirable.
Languages:
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
