The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is a United Nations peacekeeping mission for the recently independent South Sudan, which became independent on 9 July 2011. UNMISS was established on 8 July 2011 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1996.

The UNMISS has published a job vacancy announcement on 13th April 2023 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Movement Control Assistant to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

UNMISS Job Vacancy 2023

Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located within the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS). The Movement Control Assistant will be based in Juba. Juba is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Movement Control Assistant reports to the Movement Control Officer or his designate.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

• High school or equivalent diploma is required.

Job – Specific Qualification:

• A valid driver’s license and ability to drive manual transmission vehicles are required. Please explain how you meet these requirements and attach copy of your valid license in the attachment section.
• Technical or vocational certificate in movement control, multi-modal transportation, airline operations, logistics management or a related field is desirable.
• A valid IATA and/or IMO Dangerous Goods Certificate is required. Please attach copy of your certificate in the attachment section.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in movement control, multi-modal transportation, and airline operations or logistics management including planning and scheduling of passengers and cargo, dangerous goods requiring special handling, rotation/repatriation/deployment of military and police units is required.
• Experience in preparing passenger/ cargo manifests and documentation relating to at least two modes of transportation is required.
• Experience in international operations in a post conflict environment is required.
• Experience in the preparation of compliance analysis and statistical reports is required.

Languages:

• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
