The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is a United Nations peacekeeping mission for the recently independent South Sudan, which became independent on 9 July 2011. UNMISS was established on 8 July 2011 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1996.

The UNMISS has published a job vacancy announcement on 07th May 2024 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Security Information Analyst to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

UNMISS Job Vacancy 2024

Org. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) with duty station Juba, which is classified in the “E” category and as a non-family duty station. The Security Information Analyst at P-3 level is under the overall command of the Principal Security Adviser (PSA), and reports to the Chief of Operations.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent such as a senior command and staff qualification) in security management, information management or business administration, political/social science international relations with focus on security information management.
A first-level university degree, the combination with two additional years of qualifying experience in military, police or security information management may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Job – Specific Qualification:

A certification as Security information Analyst is required.
UNDSS Security Analysis Process and Practice certificate is desirable.

Work Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in security information analysis with a military, police, state, civilian information management or private sector or security management organization is required.
At least one years (1) experience and exposure at the international level and in a conflict or post conflict environment is required.
Experience in working with Intelligence or Information Units at the national or international level is required.
Experience in the preparation of analytical statistical reports is desirable.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in writing and speaking English is required.
