IWMI South Africa looking for “MELIA Data Collection and Analysis Expert”.

The IWMI has published a job vacancy announcement on 20th January 2024 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of MELIA Data Collection and Analysis Expert to be based in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.

Scope of Work

  • Inception report WP2, WP3 & WP5: Within a week of signing the contract the consultant will deliver an inception report which will detail the proposed methodology, identify potential risks and mitigation strategies, and a workplan outlining the works schedule and the division of labour between team members
  • Draft report WP2, WP3 & WP5: A draft version of the final report will be shared with UU offering an opportunity for the programme to seek clarity or more information on findings, to provide additional evidence that may have been overlooked, or to correct possible misunderstandings.
  • Progress reports: Informal check in to ensure ongoing progress and to highlight and resolve any challenges.
  • Final report WP2, WP3 & WP5: Following feedback from UU the consultant will deliver a final report, taking UU comments into account, and incorporating these. A comments tracker will accompany the final report outlining how the consultant has responded to each of the comments.
  • Communication content: The consultant will, in consultation with the UU communication team develop key content that the UU communication team can then turn into a series of communication products highlighting the process and findings of the evaluation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Master’s degree in data management, Monitoring & Evaluation or other relevant degree Experience in conducting/supporting field-based research activities, including data collection and documentation.
  • Prior experience in designing and leading evaluation components of projects including at least 10+ years demonstrated experience in project data processing, analysis and management.
  • At least 10+ years demonstrated abilities in survey techniques and analytical skills including knowledge of related regional and institutional contexts.
  • Professional experience in designing, planning, leading and conducting thematic program/project evaluations, or organizational assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience of data analysis software and advanced computer skills (word-processing, spread sheets, and databases) are a must.
  • At least 5+ years direct experience in a position of monitoring and evaluation of large projects or programs with major donors.
  • Strong quality control management experience along the entire project life cycle, from design and formulation to implementation, analysis, and presentation of results and recommendations.
  • At least 2 projects on MELIA in Sub-Saharan Africa, not more than five years ago.
  • At least 2 projects in the Agro-value chain system in in Sub-Saharan Africa, not more than five years ago.
