IGCP South Africa looking for “Community Engagement and Outreach Associate”.

IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional Afromontane Forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

The IGCP has published a job vacancy announcement on 01st May 2024 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of Community Engagement and Outreach Associate to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities

Apply knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS, TB and COVID 19
Participate in stakeholder engagement activities
Participate Community engagement and education activities
Completion of Informed Consent Form/Process
Participate in Recruitment and Retention activities
Data capturing, reporting and record keeping
Undertaking duties as assigned
Applicable documentation, consent forms and data collection forms were completed according to study protocol
Administered data collection instruments, including risk assessment questionnaires
Completed, compiled and submitted study case report forms (CRFs) and source documents timeously
Participant records were completed and filed accurately with strict adherence to documentation handling procedures
Maintained accurate study logs related to biological specimens
Managed stock keeping of clinic supplies
Reported on daily/weekly activities to the Project coordinator
Assisted with SOP development
Submitted reports as required
Managed participant data base
Complied with safety policies and procedures
Reported unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources
Adhered to decision making procedures

Eligibility Criteria

A degree or diploma (Social Sciences and Humanities, Public Health, Project Management, Preforming and Dramatic Arts, Youth or Community Development)
Driver’s Licence (Optional)
Professional Drivers Permit (Optional)
SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
Basic computer skills
Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
Willing to work overtime
