IGCP South Africa looking for “Programme Support Associate”.

IGCP was formed in 1991 to address the long-term conservation of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) and its regional Afromontane Forest habitat in the Virunga Bwindi Landscape. Our aim has been to work together as a single gorilla conservation program in order to expand and consolidate the successes of the Mountain Gorilla Project and other initiatives at a regional level.

The IGCP has published a job vacancy announcement on 09th May 2024 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of Programme Support Associate to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with programme planning and coordination, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and organizing programme materials as well as supporting in fund management activities.
  • Conduct research and gather data to support programme development and decision-making.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of programme documentation, such as project plans, status reports and programme evaluations.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure effective communication and coordination between various programme stakeholders.
  • Support the execution of programme activities, such as workshops, training sessions, and events, by coordinating logistics, managing registrations, and providing on-site support.
  • Assist in monitoring programme progress, identifying risks and issues, and proposing solutions to address them.
  • Contribute to programme reporting by collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and presenting findings to the Senior Programme Coordinator and team members.
  • Assist in managing programme-related communications, including drafting emails, creating presentations, and updating programme-related content on internal platforms.
  • Accompany team on site visits as required and conduct site inspections if requested

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelors’ or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., BCom. B Social Sciences, Business Administration, Project Management, Communications).
  • This role requires an associate who has a diverse skill set, there is a large degree of project management, programme auditing, partner engagement, process improvement/ agile principles involved.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data to support decision-making.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
