Save the Children Job Vacancy 2024

Role Purpose: The Peace Building Officer, will play a vital role in supporting and implementing initiatives aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution in various communities. Peace Building will work closely with local stakeholders, community leaders, and project partners to facilitate dialogue, build relationships, and create sustainable peace-building strategies. The Peace building Officer will be responsible for organizing activities, monitoring progress, and documenting impact to contribute to positive social change.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies, international relations, development studies, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5 years) working in peace-building, conflict resolution, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of peace-building concepts, conflict analysis frameworks, and approaches to reconciliation.
  • Good knowledge of international human rights and humanitarian law, particularly concerning protection of IDPs and refugees;
  • Extensive experience in capacity building and in strengthening various duty bearers understanding of and response to child protection;
  • Demonstrated ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex programmes.
  • Familiarity with local cultural dynamics, social norms, and political context of Jongeli and Akobo.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse stakeholders and conduct community engagement activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in challenging and sensitive environments.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Experience of senior level representation;
  • Experience of negotiating successful partnerships with institutional donors;
  • Experience of working with and supporting government authorities and national NGOs
  • Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level;
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy;
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct.
