The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), formerly the United Nations Fund for Population Activities, is a UN agency aimed at improving reproductive and maternal health worldwide. Its work includes developing national healthcare strategies and protocols, increasing access to birth control, and leading campaigns against child marriage, gender-based violence, obstetric fistula, and female genital mutilation.

The UNFPA has published a job vacancy announcement on 20th December 2023 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of Programme Coordinator to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

UNFPA Job Vacancy 2024

Job Purpose: The 2gether 4 SRHR Programme is a joint United Nations Regional Programme that brings together the combined efforts of UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people in East and Southern Africa, in particular adolescents and young people, women of reproductive age, men, key populations, and people affected by the crisis.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

Advanced university degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations or related field.

Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum 7 years of professional progressive work experience in SRHR in East and Southern
Africa, including in humanitarian settings.
Strong track record in programme management, management of high performing teams, results-
based planning, monitoring and reporting, proven ability to produce demonstrable results;
Proven experience in managing complex partnerships.
Experience in applying regional approaches to strengthen national outcomes beneficial.
Strong skills in managing interpersonal relationships, and teamwork.
Knowledge and previous experience managing multi-stakeholder programmes, with experience
in managing joint UN programmes an advantage.
Experience in the use of office software packages, and handling of web-based management systems
