The UNECA has published a job vacancy announcement on 30th April, 2024 for qualified Ethiopians to fill in the vacant post of Research and Analysis Intern to be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

UNECA Job Vacancy 2024

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to the digital economy. Conduct research on digital trends and best practices and propose innovative solutions to enhance digital engagements with member states, regional organizations (AUC, UN agencies, WB, AfDB, Afreximbank etc.) private sector and NGOs with the objective of accelerating digital transformation efforts across Africa.
Support the preparation of reports on the digital economy, including e-commerce, digital trade, fintech, emerging technologies, digital divides, infrastructure development, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Technical Support: Support the team in the design and implementation of programs under the Digital Center of Excellence, including the portfolio on Digital ID & Interoperability, capacity building and upskilling of students and teachers as part of the join Google program and the Connected African Girls coding camp initiative.
Content Creation and Management: Assist with the creation of digital content, including infographics, and social media posts, that promotes the ECA’s initiatives and results.
Update and maintain the ECA’s website content in collaboration with various departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
