NRC South Sudan looking for “ICLA Project Manager”.

The NRC has published a job vacancy announcement on 24th January 2024 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of ICLA Project Manager to be based in Aweil, South Sudan.

Generic responsibilities (max 10)

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  • Line management for project staff
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures
  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and ICLA strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant ICLA projects.
  • Coordinate and manage ICLA project implementation (activities, budget, and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements.
  • Provide technical direction to ICLA team and ensure high technical quality of projects.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Programme Manager and the ICLA Specialist
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  • Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with Area Programme Manager) and coordinate across Core Competencies (CCs)
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop funding strategy and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments and extracting and implementing key learnings from project implementation
  • Assess needs, develop emergency response and implement response plans
  • Provide regular progress reports to APM (Area Manager and CC Specialists if no APM)
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience from a management position in a humanitarian/ recovery context
  • University degree in relevant university field of Project Development and Management, preferably law or social studies
  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior-level legal assistance project implementation position in a humanitarian/ recovery context
  • ICLA technical expertise, including knowledge of Housing, Land & Property and/or civil documentation issues.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Managing multiple projects, accountability position in recovery context
  • Previous experience budget management, from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Experience in external engagement with Donors, Government and Local Authority
  • Experience with managing projects with EU, USAID, Norad, and UN funding
  • Experience in facilitating the capacity building efforts of diverse colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods.
  • Analytic and computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal required
  • Fluency in Arabic is a plus
