Job Purpose:

FIND has been implementing various activities in Kenya to improve the diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) since 2016. The strategy involves awareness campaigns, VL case searches, strengthening healthcare facilities to diagnose the disease using clinical signs and rapid diagnostic tests (RDT), with confirmatory testing for RDT negative cases, treatment of patients and training of various cadres of healthcare workers. FIND’s activities over the years have been extended to eleven endemic counties and support the distribution of drugs and diagnostics resulting in significant progress towards VL control and elimination in Kenya. The VL portfolio is one of several that make up the FIND global NTD programme.

Position in Organization:

Position: Elimination Lead – Consultant
Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Qualification:

A master’s degree in public health.
A minimum of seven years’ NGO working experience within Global Health, Neglected Tropical Diseases or other disease elimination programs.
A minimum of five years’ health systems strengthening (HSS) experience including three years implementing an NTD disease elimination programme.
Prior experience in data collection, processing, management, analysis and reporting.
Extensive experience working with county governments, health facilities and other stakeholders towards service delivery on public health issues.
Experience developing programme implementation tools for disease elimination.
Strong data analysis skills and understanding of epidemiology.
Excellent computer skills, to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
Experience developing, managing and responsibility for specific project budgets.
Demonstrated outstanding written and oral communication skills in positions requiring clear and focused communications on technically complex issues.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Report writing skills.
Experience in organising and facilitating workshops and training.
Ability to work cooperatively in teams of multi-cultural backgrounds.
Strong people skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels.
The ability to take initiative, follow-through, work independently and deliver high quality work.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities while working effectively toward deadlines.
