The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian aid, relief, and development nongovernmental organization. Founded in 1933 as the International Relief Association, at the request of Albert Einstein, and changing its name in 1942 after amalgamating with the similar Emergency Rescue Committee, the IRC provides emergency aid and long-term assistance to refugees and those displaced by war, persecution, or natural disaster.

The IRC has published a job vacancy announcement on 16 May 2024 for qualified Kenya’s to fill in the vacant post of Finance Manager to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

IRC Job Vacancy 2024

Job Purpose: Under the mentorship of the Finance Coordinator, The Finance Manager-Budget & Reporting will handle the day-to-day budget and grants management function.

The Finance Manager will always make sure that all issues relating to Budgets & Reporting are immediately attended to and that the donor budgets are prepared in accordance with IRC and the donor’s requirements and are submitted on time.

Key Responsibility:

Supporting finance Coordinator with program staff to prepare grant budgets to support new proposals.
Supporting Finance Coordinator to conduct a detailed preparation of existing grant budget revisions ensuring that all costs are covered and are not under/over budgeted in addition to accurate use of the IRC’s and the donor budget formats.
Provide monthly analysis for per grant and provide advice to the budget holders to any variance spending.
Review and consolidate spending plans provided by program team before submitting to donor.
Representing finance during project cycle meeting.

Qualification & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance with a recognized professional certificate in accounting such as CPA, or ACCA.
Not less than 2 years’ Experience within the Finance Department of an international organization. Experience in the humanitarian sector will be an added advantage.
Extensive experience in working with computerized accounting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs is an asset.
